Opportunity
The Tichenal Extension Project involves the installation of approximately five miles (8 kilometers) of 12-inch (30-cm) and 16-inch (40-cm) natural gas pipeline in Harrison County, West Virginia.
In addition to the buried pipeline, a meter station with aboveground piping would be installed at the southern end of the Tichenal Extension, and a tie-in would be installed at the northern end, where it meets the Jarvisville Lateral pipeline.
Solution
HMM, a joint venture of Mott MacDonald and Hatch, was contracted to perform project management, engineering, pipeline route selection, drafting/mapping, survey, environmental/permitting, material specifications, construction bid packages, and construction management and inspection services.
Outcome
We completed the fast-track project with an aggressive schedule, performing expedited, high-quality services.
Design and construction activities were developed with mitigation measures focused on minimizing environmental impacts. Best management practices were incorporated in the project design and construction contract for crossings of wetlands and bodies of water, erosion/sediment control, and stormwater management.
