The City of Mobile, AL has chosen Mott MacDonald to lead its "One Mobile" project and provide Owner's Representation Services. According to the city, Mott MacDonald was selected because of our "experience in large transportation construction" and "vast knowledge of TIGER Grant administration." The project will be funded by the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) program.
The contract for the project, awarded by the Department of Transportation, provides for the reconstruction of the Broad-Beauregard corridor and its connection to MLK Avenue and the Three Mile Creek Greenway. It will help rebuild aging infrastructure, improve access to jobs, and revitalize historic neighborhoods.
Mayor Sandy Stimpson said, "Mott MacDonald's expertise will ensure we successfully implement a crucial project that will draw people to the heart of our community. Once completed, we will provide safe, pedestrian and bicycle-friendly access, beautify the streetscape and stimulate economic activity throughout Mobile. This project will connect citizens from the transportation hub on Water Street to homes in neighborhoods to jobs at Brookley Aeroplex to recreation on the Three Mile Creek Greenway."
Brookley Aeroplex is the site of Mott MacDonald's award-winning Airbus Final Assembly Line project.
