I am allowed the freedom to create, improvise and to be entrepreneurial

Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?

Mott MacDonald is known for providing one of the world’s best services in the consultancy sector that helps the industry and people reach new heights. But on top of that, I knew of Mott MacDonald's leadership role in engineering through various high profile projects that the company has delivered over time. Mott MacDonald's services and philanthropy show that the company cares about both the bottom line and giving back to society.

What is the best thing about your role?

I am allowed the freedom to create, improvise and to be entrepreneurial. I love having the freedom to experiment and fail, and I love the people I work beside. They are practically my family.

How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?

This is a great place to learn and grow.

How has your career progressed at Mott MacDonald?

I have improved my career growth with experience at Mott MacDonald. I joined as a senior project engineer and I am now working in the capacity of dy project head. I have also gained hands on experience in pipeline projects.

How many years have you worked for Mott MacDonald, and what has been your proudest achievement to date?

I have been working for Mott MacDonald since 2009 and have completed six years in the company. The proudest achievement was when GFL Projects made a lot of profit for the company and the EPC 2 was commissioned for Aishwariya Field – Cairn India Limited at Rajasthan, the project for which I was the project director. I received a series of appreciation mails from Cairn as well as the EPC contractor for the unflinching support provided by the project team through the engineering, procurement and construction phase.

Are you involved with any charities or do any volunteer work?

I have participated in the second league of 'The Hiranandani Thane Half Marathon'. The registration fee collected from participants is donated to institutions engaged in social work. The amount collected through registrations in the last race was donated to Ruhi, a non-governmental organisation, associated with Tata Memorial Hospital which treats children diagnosed with cancer. This year the race supported Mumbai Mobile Creches, a non-governmental organisation, providing shelters to construction workers' children at the construction sites and Jaipur Foot, one of the world’s largest organisation serving the disabled. Jaipur Foot provides all its assistance including artificial limbs, calipers and other aids and appliances totally free of cost. The race takes up a cause in the social sphere every year. This year the chosen cause was to promote our national sport hockey.

I have also participated in other charity runs such as:

Standard Charted Mumbai Marathon

Monsoon Madness XC Half Marathon

Pinnacle Satara Hill Marathon

Run India Run Marathon

What has been your favourite Mott MacDonald social event?

The annual function which was organised recently at the Courtyard Marriot Hotel.

What is your favourite pastime?

I like to run and practice for long distance.

If you could have lunch with any three people who would they be and why?

  • Queen Elizabeth II: First of all, she's The Queen. I think the royals are interesting. I think she's a fascinating world leader and the history she's seen and the people she's met would be fascinating to learn more about.
  • Sir Elton John: He's a wonderful performer, and is very talented.
  • Mahatma Gandhi: I admire his dedication to the non-violent struggle for change. His standing up for what he believed in gets my vote on this one.

Where is your favourite place?

I want to visit Europe and Asia.

What inspires you at work?

My faith in God gives me inspiration, as well as knowing that I’m a role model for my family. And I understand that I represent not only Mott MacDonald but also a number of employees in the organisation.
