Job Description

Our Environmental team in Iselin, NJ is currently hiring for a Project Environmental Scientist to join our team. In this position you will work within our Environmental team on site remediation projects in the local NJ area. Leading efforts and working directly with clients to manage projects and staff.
  1. Reviews and analyzes a variety of data to determine requirements to meet geologic and engineering objectives.
  2. Maintains liaison with clients, regulators, and other individuals outside the firm.
  3. Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignment and related fields.
  4. Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.
  5. Prepares or directs preparation and modification of environmental impact studies and reports, specifications, plans, and designs for project.
  6. Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to environmental science.
  7. Originates and applies new and unique methods and procedures.
  8. Supplies technical advice and counsel to other professionals.
  9. Outlines more difficult problems and methods of approach for other geologists.
  10. Under general administration plans, conducts and directs projects of major significance which are highly difficult and complex in nature, necessitating expert application of advanced knowledge in the field of environmental science.
  11. Utilizes experienced judgment to research and analyze data.
  12. Prepares or directs preparation of geologic reports and maps, interprets research data, and recommends further study or action.
  13. Directs soil and hydraulic testing and groundwater monitoring and sampling.
  14. Uses advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of geology, related sciences, and disciplines.
  15. Provides basic mentoring, reference, oversight, and supervision for less-experienced geologists and scientists.

Candidate Specification

  • Candidates should possess a B.S. degree in in Geology or Environmental Science (or equivalent)
  • 5-10 years of experience in conducting site investigations and remediation at ISRA, RCRA, UST or CERCLA sites involving solid waste, soil and groundwater.
  • Experience in field and staff oversite is preferred.
  • A LSRP is preferred but not required.
  • Candidates must have familiarity with soil and groundwater sampling, various drilling techniques,
  • Candidates should be familiar with federal, state and county regulatory regulations.
  • Possession of current 40 hr OSHA Health & Safety training is a plus.
  • Candidates must pass a physical examination as a condition of employment for this position.
