Job Description

About our apprenticeships and is this the right route for you?
Interested in one of our apprenticeships but not entirely sure what it entails? As an apprentice you’ll be right in the thick of all the action. It’s a great route into the industry. You’ll get the chance to expand your knowledge by attending college one day a week, while constantly discovering new and exciting things and learning from our industry experts on the job. If you’re an individual that can work independently when appropriate and can demonstrate a positive approach to problem solving, then an apprenticeship is the perfect step for you.
However, it doesn’t stop there. The great thing about an apprenticeship is that you’ll be earning a salary while learning, then eventually gaining a professional qualification. You’ll be given continued support as you develop your skills throughout the program and there is no cost for the training you receive.

So, what is business administration all about?
Business administrators work across the operational, organisational and managerial functions of a company. As a result, business administrators develop a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied across a wide variety of sectors.

As an apprentice administrator, you will actively support and engage with different parts of the organisation, contributing to the efficiency of our business. This variety will allow you to develop a wide range of skills and experiences, improving your flexibility and responsiveness.

You will be expected to deliver your responsibilities efficiently and with integrity – showing a positive attitude. You can expect these responsibilities to include; communicating with both internal and external clients, supporting colleagues in developing proposals, analysing data to create recommendations, and the potential for people management through mentoring or coaching of others. To achieve this, you will need to demonstrate strong communication skills (both written and verbal), efficiently manage your time and priorities, make decisions, solve problems, and take initiative.

What will you get?
During your apprenticeship, you will be actively encouraged and supported to develop your skills and advance your career. Apprenticeships typically lasts 12 to 18 months and at the end of all your hard work, you will be able to gain a Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration. This will be a gateway for future career.
Beyond the apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to progress further to a Higher-Level Business Administration Apprenticeship if you meet the requirements. Alternatively, you could carry out wider development through either the Level 4 Junior Management Consultant, or Level 4 Project Manager qualification. Any of these routes will help you grow and develop in Mott MacDonald, and could lead to either managerial, or senior support roles.
