Job Description

You will join a highly collaborative group of environmental specialists and town planners, delivering a broad range of environmental projects and advisory services, with special focus on environmental impact assessments.

In particular, you will drop straight into working on major infrastructure projects and our larger frameworks in the UK power, rail, highways, aviation and water sectors, with HS2 and Heathrow being nationally important examples.

You will lead environmental feasibility and optioneering studies, as well screening and scoping exercises, and manage the delivery of EIAs and the production of Environmental Statements. You will also assist with the analysis of potential impacts, work with the wider multidisciplinary team to influence sustainable designs, and lead the preparation of environmental mitigation measures, as well as reviewing technical reports produced by others. You will also have the opportunity to support projects during their construction phase, to ensure environmental best practice and compliance.

Candidate Specification

  • Relevant academic/professional qualifications - ideally Chartered with an appropriate institution
  • Demonstrable knowledge of environmental impact assessment (EIA) and relevant legislation in the UK
  • Technical capability in at least one environmental discipline (eg: water resources, climate, health)
  • Experience in applying for, and maintaining compliance with, construction-related environmental consents and permits
  • Experience of inspections for environmental compliance on construction sites, and leading or supporting environmental audits
  • Experience in managing challenging stakeholders and statutory bodies
  • Experience of proposal writing or other business development activities would be advantageous
