Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Senior Mechanical Engineer based in our Toronto office to provide technical excellence and leadership in the delivery of our current and future workload. Reporting to the mechanical discipline lead, with growth opportunities and clear career progression, you will contribute to a variety of projects in Canada and internationally, with a significant focus on transportation projects.

- Managing the delivery of assigned projects
- Working and liaising with associated engineering disciplines as part of delivering projects.
- Responsible for managing internal and external stakeholders, ensuring client satisfaction and pursuing and promoting opportunities with potential and established clients.
- Developing engineering from a feasibility stage to completion, providing leadership to the support team
- Development of resilient services infrastructure solutions, maximizing the use of digital technology and tools.
- Working as part of a multi-discipline team to deliver project input
- Ability to co-ordinate with architectural, building and civil teams
- Carrying out design and calculation work focussing on sustainable solutions that seek to reduce and remove embodied and operational carbon.
- Developing, maintaining and monitoring programmes for scheduling and reporting on deliverables across specific projects.
- Maximizing profitability of projects, monitoring against budget, reacting and anticipating potential problems and communicating in line with client expectations.
- Demonstrating technical expertise, providing in depth knowledge and leadership whilst proactively coaching and developing more junior team members.
- Providing expert engineering input into design; and evaluation of built environment proposals.
Candidate Specification
The successful candidates will have the following experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- 10+ years of mechanical design experience mainly in the transportation sector.
- Previous experience on design build projects.
- In depth knowledge of design specifications/requirements of transit authorities such as: TTC, Metrolinx and Translink
- Excellent understanding of BIM/VDC, with experience using REVIT and associated packages
- Understanding of all engineering disciplines (mechanical/communications/electrical/structure) with expertise in mechanical
- The design and/or planning and/or design of large-scale public buildings
- Skills in sustainability and green initiatives, with a demonstrated track record
- A consultative approach to dealing with clients.
- Ability to analyse information and offer solutions to clients that exceed expectations.
- Positive ‘can-do’ attitude, to working with colleagues and clients.
- Experience of working within an Integrated Management System.
- Adaptable to working within different client environments/cultures.
