Contracts specialist
Job Description
The Canada Unit is looking for a Contracts Specialist to join our growing team in either Toronto or Vancouver. In this role you will be the primary point of contact for the Canada unit in coordinating with the North and South America (NASA) legal department for all required contract reviews.
You will support the Commercial manager with the following responsibilities:

- Support project and proposal teams in understanding key issues and securing sound and equitable commercial outcomes in contract negotiations; and
- Ensure appropriate agreements with third parties are in place, including sub-consultant organizations and strategic and JV partners.
- Canada Unit administrator for the NASA Legal Review Intake System (LRIS)
- Manage Canada Unit priorities with the Portfolio Managers and NASA Legal team
- Work with the NASA legal team to streamline the legal contract review process
- Undertake initial screening / review of contracts to advise the Bid Managers and Bid Principals of the key issues and risks and inform the decision to bid process
- Support the Canada Unit Commercial Manager and NASA Legal team with negotiations and close out of agreements with Mott MacDonald’s Clients, partners and subconsultants as may be required
- Provide advice to the project managers and project principals to support resolution of routine contractual issues, in line with NASA legal department guidance
- Support Unit Commercial Manager and Unit General Manager with facilitating internal Mott MacDonald Group Directive approvals
- Manage the Contract Store on behalf of the Canada Unit
Candidate Specification
We are looking to speak with contracts specialists who have availability to join either the Toronto or Vancouver office soon and invite applications from candidates with the following qualifications:
- Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in engineering, or construction management or similar
- 5-10 years contracts administration / commercial management experience especially in the preparation and finalization of contract documents
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in the infrastructure sector
- Experience working within a consulting engineering environment in Canada
- Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team
- Excellent communicator (both oral and written) and skilled problem-solver with a commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is paramount
- A high attention to detail and an ability to deal efficiently with priorities and manage time appropriately
- Must be proficient with software such as: SharePoint, Excel, Word, MS Project and other comparable such programs including the desire to utilize the full capabilities of Office365
