Our work in Kenya dates back to 1969, when we first helped develop a communications satellite station. Over the years we have been busy in the power, environment, water, oil and gas, education, and health sectors.

Our work in water, environment, health, and education all contributes to improving the daily lives of Kenyans.

For the Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Initiative we prepared an investment plan and developed technical solutions to support investments for water and sanitation improvement projects in the region. The work will also support communities surrounding the lake and will improve ecosystems and aquatic life. Fifteen towns are involved, with three projects based in Kenya.

We’re also working with academic partners to equip Kenya Polytechnic University College with the knowledge and resources to provide effective training in integrated water management. We’re providing the technical and educational expertise to guide the college in developing new training for water management professionals.

We acted as chief technical advisor to assist the National Environmental Management Authority of Kenya in implementing part of its strategic plan. The overall objective of the program was to create sustainable environmental management in support of rural livelihoods, committed to equity, poverty reduction, and the protection of the environment and natural resources.

Our health experts managed a five-year program building capacity within the Health Sector Reform Secretariat and Ministry of Health to implement a process of decentralization to improve the efficiency and quality of health services across the country. Our support covered five areas: financial management systems, human resources, monitoring and evaluation, procurement, and an integrated package of services.

Furthermore, we supported the development of a medium-term procurement plan for the Kenyan Ministry of Health (now the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, and the Ministry of Medical Services). The aim of the plan was to help with planning and budgeting for medical commodities and to link the cost of required commodities with available financial resources.

As part of the Global School Partnerships and supporting the accreditation of Kenyan teachers, we gave a seminar at Western University College of Science and Technology focusing on strategies to raise school standards, including developing a global dimension within the curriculum.
