Mott MacDonald pledged to become carbon neutral across our business by the end of 2020. This is how we will do it:
Much more renewable energy
We’re switching our office electricity supply to renewable energy wherever possible.
Fly less, fly smart
We’re reducing the need for travel by maximising the power of digital communication. Where flying is essential, we’ll use airlines that are reducing their emissions or have become carbon neutral themselves.
Be agile:
We are enabling more of our colleagues to work in an agile, flexible way more of the time, which drives carbon reductions in office space and travel.
Low carbon road travel:
Whenever practicable, cars we hire will be electric or hybrid.
Better data:
We’re continually improving the quality of our carbon data and the way we present it – showing carbon performance and trends from the scale of the global Mott MacDonald Group to offices, teams and individuals.
Offsetting
We know that at the end of the year we’ll still have a carbon footprint. We will mitigate it by investing in solutions that remove and sequester carbon from the atmosphere, for example afforestation or peatland restoration. We’ll work with offsetting specialists, carbon funds, and in the longer term develop projects with our clients and partners.
We plan to achieve certification to PAS 2060, the international standard for carbon neutrality.
