Risk

Commitment

Mott MacDonald ensures that the level of business risk is commensurate with organisational viability, business growth and corporate goals.

We embed risk management into the organisation’s culture, strategic and business planning processes to safeguard the interests of our clients, our people and our assets. We seek to strike appropriate balance between risk and reward with the aim of improving business performance and enhancing the Group’s reputation in the marketplace.

We comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements in every jurisdiction in which we work.

Approach

To fulfil our commitment, we:

  • identify and assess business risk at Group, unit and project level
  • develop group risk treatment plans for each principal risk that informs the level of risk the organisation is willing to take and risk treatment approaches
  • establish a risk committee for each region to deliver and manage specific risk treatment plans
  • plan and implement risk and opportunity management strategies based on the level of risk
  • establish a group risk committee to oversee effective delivery of our risk management programme. A risk sub committee supports sharing of best practice to improve risk management capabilities, maintenance of risk registers and treatment plans
  • work to continually improve and mature our risk management systems, capabilities and practices to meet the needs of our employees, clients and business.

Our risk requirements are formalised in our business management system.

Responsibility

  • The Group strategy director is responsible for this policy and its implementation.
  • Regional general managers are responsible for the effective implementation of this policy in their regions and business units.
  • Risk managers are responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of this policy and for ensuring that our risk commitments are reflected in our operational requirements.
  • Project managers are responsible and project principals accountable for developing appropriate risk treatment strategies for projects.
