Biography

Describe what the Mott Mac Life means to you in three words

Opportunity to contribute.

What do you enjoy about working here?

Collaboration with multiple disciplines and having access to a range of professionals who are skilled in their respective field.

I enjoy being part of a larger broader team that overlooks an entire project design, including all disciplines and all trades.

Tell us about your specialism and why you chose it

For the past 20 years I have been specialising in the design, delivery and ultimately the operational maintenance of large airport conveyance special systems.

This includes baggage handling, security screening equipment, passenger screening, vertical transportation, passenger boarding bridges, building integration, witnessing, testing, commissioning, operational readiness and airport transfer (ORAT) and handover.

Specialising  in airport special systems was a natural progression for me, bringing together my former experience and my interests.

Why did you choose to join Mott MacDonald?

Joining Mott MacDonald was an incredibly exciting opportunity for me, it’s fantastic to be involved in the Auckland Airport and to have the opportunity to be at home in Auckland after working abroad for over 15 years.

How do you demonstrate Technical Excellence in your work?

I enjoy being involved in projects during the initial design phases, as this allows us to identify the technical and contractual risks and provides opportunities to give guidance and direction on how to navigate these risks.

The early measures taken to reduce risks help us to save costs and time, optimise resources, reduce project frustrations and ultimately enhances the operational performance to benefit all. That is what technical excellence means to me.

Where in the world has your role taken you?

USA, India, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Australia, Argentina.

What are your career highlights and achievements?

A highlight was working at the Dubai International Airport as an operations and maintenance manager, line managing over 200 team members on a 24/7, 365-day program.

Another key achievement was to complete a full handover, from design through to delivery and ORAT as resident engineer for the Abu Dhabi Midfield Terminal - BHS systems, passenger security screening systems, vertical transport systems, and passenger boarding bridges, inclusive of full integration with building and passenger trials.
