Karl Jones

Buildings leader, New Zealand
New Zealand
We build for those who come after us, crafting places our grandchildren will love. Ours is an age of endless possibility, yet wisdom and experience lie in purposefully choosing what should be done and decisively discarding what we could do. In turn, true assets emerge that endure, adapt, and matter.

Biography

Great buildings demand more than technical excellence – they require creativity, collaboration, and the confidence to challenge convention. For Karl Jones, improving outcomes in the built environment starts with questioning assumptions and exploring what is truly possible, while staying focused on performance, cost, and buildability.

As buildings leader in New Zealand, Karl combines strategic leadership with a multidisciplinary perspective shaped by training in both engineering and architecture. His expertise spans structural and façade engineering, with a particular focus on building envelopes and multidisciplinary design leadership. Over his career, he has contributed to many of New Zealand’s most significant civic, education, and transport projects, guiding teams from concept through to detailed design while ensuring high performance, durability, cost efficiency, and constructability are seamlessly integrated.

Karl’s approach centres on translating design challenges into clear, practical solutions. Working closely with clients and design teams, he supports informed decision-making where technical performance, architectural intent, delivery certainty, and long-term value must align.
