About the Armed Forces Pathway
Mott MacDonald’s Armed Forces Pathway represents our commitment to recruiting, transitioning, developing, and supporting the armed forces community within our organisation. The Pathway is designed to support military personnel transitioning into civilian careers. It provides support and resources to help individuals develop relevant skills, and successfully integrate into roles outside of the military. Programme: Participants will learn about project planning within our Energy division. You will be supported to work on a variety of projects and empowered to develop your skills within a consultancy environment.
Support: You’ll be paired with a supportive buddy from our Mott MacDonald Forces community.

Overview of the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a planning and scheduling professional to join our fast-growing energy team. As a Project planner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of projects within our team. You’ll be responsible for establishing and maintaining the progress management baseline, overseeing earned value management, scheduling, and related disciplines. Your insights will drive informed decision-making and help us achieve project milestones effectively.

Essential Criteria
We’re looking for a P6 Project Planner who thrives on structure, precision, and delivering results. If you’ve led or supported mission-critical operations, coordinated complex schedules, and adapted to changing priorities, your experience is highly valued here.
Operational Planning Expertise
• Experience in developing and managing detailed plans or mission schedules, including scoping, sequencing, and resource allocation.
• Skilled in monitoring progress, adjusting timelines, and ensuring successful execution of operations—skills directly transferable to project scheduling.
Strategic Thinking and Conceptual Understanding
• Strong grasp of planning principles and the ability to apply structured thinking to real-world challenges.
• Able to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans that support project success.
Tool Proficiency
• Comfortable using digital planning tools or military systems for scheduling and coordination.
• Experience with tools including Primavera P6 is required
Collaborative Approach
• Proven ability to work across units or departments, aligning plans with broader objectives and adapting to feedback from multiple stakeholders.
• Experience supporting the development and maintenance of operational plans in line with established procedures and protocols.
Performance Monitoring and Analysis
• Familiarity with performance tracking methods such as Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar military performance metrics.
• Able to use data to inform decisions, improve outcomes, and ensure accountability
