Mott MacDonald is looking for a construction professional to join our ever-expanding transportation team in Southern California. Specifically, we are looking for a qualified Assistant Resident Engineer .
- Have knowledge of and assist RE and Metro for day-to-day Station construction issues and other RE tasks as needed.
- Review and comprehend specifications and generate list of submittals/materials/Metro obligations for upcoming work, including third party obligations.
- Review project site and progress work
- Coordinate with Lead/field inspection staff on a daily basis; discuss field issues and reports.
- Review daily summaries.
- Review quantity tracking log and labor tracking.
- Identify any cost or schedule impact, and in review of inspection reports developed
- Update project stations issues log.
- Review and check tracking logs.
- Review weekly internal stations presentation.
- Assist RE with monthly schedule update reviews and provide comments.
- Provide a list of change order update activities to the inspectors.
- Meet with OE on a weekly basis and provide guidance.
- Verify as-built information on the contractor’s three week look ahead schedule and review weekly look ahead meeting minutes.
- Generate draft of weekly summary narrative.
- Review all applicable Submittals, RFI’s, etc.
- Assist Contractor/Quality team to facilitate resolution and closure of Non-Conformance (NC’s) in a timely manner.
- Participate in Readiness Reviews and pre-construction meetings
- Ensure construction work plans are in place for upcoming work along with appropriate submittals.
- Assist Resident Engineer in drafting responses to correspondences.
- Perform technical/contractual analysis of contract change orders, draft scope, and contractual basis for Resident Engineer review.
- Review potential change requests and provisional sum agreement (PSA) requests for merit.
- Review change order log / PSA log on a weekly basis and track progress.
- Ensure that OE is maintaining organized files for change orders / PSA's.
- Review Materials on Hand packages every month.
- Assist RE with monthly progress payment recommendations.
- Resolve construction issues as needed.
- Attend instrumentation meetings and identify/resolve any issues; elevate to RE as needed.
- Coordinate/resolve any third-party or community relations issues or claims.
- Coordinate with environmental group for environmental issues.
- Other duties as assigned by the Construction Manager (Design-Build).

The expected salary for this position is $170,000- $208,000
Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
