About the business unit
 
Mott MacDonald’s support services are the driving force behind our organisation enabling us to run efficiently and effectively. The team works collaboratively to offer specialist advice, best practice and technology to all areas of our business specifically designed for our global reach. 
 
Overview of Role
Internal audit gives the business the governance that our internal control environment is operating effectively, and that we are managing and mitigating the risks to Mott MacDonald. 

Our internal audit landscape contains four components: Internal audit services (currently financial, non-financial, cyber/IT audits) and ISO certification audits, both outsourced; Business Management System (BMS) audits of our internal control environment and Health & Safety (H&S) audits, compliance audits, both delivered in house.

The role will be reporting into our Group Head of Internal Audit based in London, UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Group Head of Internal Audit, and the outsourced service providers and in house teams, to develop, oversee and report on a comprehensive annual internal audit plan, covering and joining up the four components noted above. 
• Review and approve audit reports prior to their publication, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal standards.
• Monitor and track the progress of responses to audit findings and actions (recommendations), ensuring timely and effective resolution of identified issues.
• Prepare analysis and draft reports for the Group Head of Internal Audit, to inform the Risk Committee and other senior stakeholders.
• Develop an annual internal audit plan, as part of the organisations business planning cycle. 
• Support in the development and circulation of policy and guidance across the group.
• Support and mentor internal auditors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the internal audit team.

Qualifications and Skills

• The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualified, with recent direct internal audit experience, or equivalent professional qualifications,
• Proven experience in internal auditing, preferably in a managerial role,
• Strong understanding of internal audit principles, risk management, and internal controls.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
