We are looking for a talented, motivated, and experienced Inspector (Construction Support) to support an iconic construction project in Vancouver. In this position, you will work alongside our senior geotechnical and structural engineers and be able to mentor junior members of the team.

 

As an Inspector (Construction Support), your responsibilities would include:

 

  • Providing full-time inspection services during the construction of multiple elements of this critical project – in particular support of excavations, shaft excavations and pre-excavation grouting, steel pipe installation and backfill grouting.

  • Preparing daily shift reports capturing HSE, progress, labour, equipment, materials, quality of the work during daily shifts. Shifts are typically 10 hrs/day 5 days/week with occasional need to work either longer hours or 6 days/week to support the construction schedule.    

  • Working collaboratively with the Engineering, Contracting Authority and Contractor teams to support overall project delivery of multiple elements of this critical project, in particular reviewing submittals and requests for information, managing and coordinating Engineers inspections, monitoring excavation performance, witnessing and providing sign off at construction hold points and communicating key issues to the relevant teams.

 

 

The candidate must have the following experience:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry / project experience, including experience in construction,  particularly installation of various support of excavation types and  underground excavations (full-time site experience would be considered an asset).

  • Experience putting design plans into practice on construction sites.

  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; able to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and clients and nurture the development of junior staff.

  • Ability and enthusiasm for supervising the work of others, including check and approval of key deliverables.

  • An academic background, with Diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering would be considered as an asset.

  • Ability to work up to 10 hours per day, Monday to Friday, including evenings and night shift, we required by the project

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.

 

 

The expected salary range for this position is from $75,000 - $91,000.
