Overview of the role
We have an opportunity for an IT Team Lead - Endpoint Services to join our global team.
The IT Team Lead - Endpoint Services will play a critical role in driving the improvement and optimisation of Mott MacDonald’s endpoint environment. This includes overseeing endpoint security solutions, managing remote provisioning through Windows Autopilot, and ensuring effective lifecycle management via Microsoft Intune. The role leads, guides, and supports a team of Endpoint Specialists, ensuring high-quality service delivery and full adherence to organisational policies and standards.
This position requires a self‑motivated individual who thrives in a fast‑paced, rapidly evolving environment and is committed to continuous learning across both technology and business domains. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in endpoint infrastructure and management, software delivery automation, Group Policy and Intune device configurations, security solution implementation, and 4th‑line support. Working closely with Cyber Security, Information Security, Operations, and other key stakeholders, the Team Lead will help shape long-term strategies and contribute to the development of future-focused technology roadmaps.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
- Line-manage the Endpoint Services team, including setting objectives, managing performance within the connected conversations framework, providing coaching, and fostering a high‑performing, collaborative team environment
- Create an inspiring team culture, encouraging open communication and setting clear goals aligned to the team’s purpose and business priorities
- Assign tasks based on team members’ strengths and expertise, ensuring workloads are balanced and deadlines are met
- Motivate and develop the team by recognising high performance, encouraging creativity, and supporting continuous learning
- Manage and monitor endpoint activities ensuring service level targets are met
- Oversee communication and escalation processes for high‑impact endpoint‑related incidents
- Review incident analysis and service performance to drive continual service improvement initiatives
- Ensure clear, timely, and effective communication of service activities to IT staff and business users
- Oversee the design, delivery, and maintenance of Windows 11 standard builds, ensuring they remain patched, secure, and aligned with IT standards
- Ensure delivery of endpoint security solutions, including Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, EDR, and M365 security features
- Lead the management and optimisation of SCCM and Intune environments, ensuring reliability, performance, and adherence to standards
- Oversee the use of Intune, Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, user profile management, and security controls to ensure a compliant service aligned to organisational frameworks
- Provide senior 4th‑line technical oversight and decision‑making for escalated issues within the endpoint technology stack
Candidate specification
Essential:
- Proven experience in managing people, developing high‑performing teams, and creating a collaborative team culture
- Experience in workload planning, prioritisation, and delegating technical tasks based on expertise and business needs
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and support technical specialists
- In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft endpoint management solutions, including Intune
- Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Entra ID
- Deep understanding of endpoint security solutions such as Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Defender Antivirus, Defender for Cloud Apps, Endpoint Detection and Response, and Advanced Hunting
- Experience defining and enforcing technical standards, build baselines, compliance policies, and configuration governance
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes (including Incident, Change, Problem and Service Improvement) and demonstrable experience applying these within complex IT environments
- Experience overseeing service performance, SLTs, KPIs, and operational reporting
- Experience leading high-impact incident communications and escalations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical staff and business stakeholders
- Experience maintaining strong working relationships with Information Security, Operations, and other cross-functional teams
- Experience contributing to technology roadmaps, service improvement initiatives, and modernisation strategies
- Ability to analyse incident and service data to identify patterns and drive continual service improvements
Desirable:
- Educated to bachelor’s degree level, preferably in an IT or engineering related discipline
- Formal accreditation in ITIL v3, V4 or another best practice framework desired
- In-depth knowledge of Azure cloud capabilities, including Microsoft Graph and API integration, with experience defining how these support enterprise endpoint strategies
- Strong understanding of Windows security patching processes, anti‑malware, encryption, vulnerability management, and update compliance from a governance/oversight perspective
- Knowledge of Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity processes, ideally with experience contributing to or reviewing DR/BCP designs
- Broader awareness of enterprise infrastructure components (network, identity, security models) and how endpoint services integrate into them
- Experience contributing to technical roadmaps, service improvement plans, or modern workplace strategies
- Experience leading or supporting cross-team collaboration across Security, Operations, IT Customer Success, and Architecture
- Exposure to vendor management, licensing discussions, or product selection processes
- Experience participating in audit/compliance reviews, contributing evidence from the endpoint services perspective
