Job Description 

 

The Mechanical BIM Modeller will be responsible for developing accurate and coordinated 3D mechanical models and detailed drawings using Bentley MicroStation/OpenBuildings Designer primarily for transportation‑related building projects. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver high‑quality BIM outputs aligned with project specifications, BIM execution plans, and industry standards. The candidate must have extensive experience in modelling mechanical systems for transportation buildings such as metro stations, plant rooms, tunnels, operational control rooms, depots, administrative buildings and associated facilities. 

 

 

Job Location  : Noida 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Ability to assess and evaluate GDSC scope for the project based on interpretation of inputs provided by lead office. 

  • Ability to generate clarifications/queries in case of unclear/ambiguous inputs, discuss the same with lead office counterparts and communicate the requirements. 

  • Proficient in conducting thorough Technical and BIM/CAD quality checks, in line with QA/QC procedures for mechanical BIM Model and 2D layouts.  

  • Should be versed with SMACA /DW-144, ASHRAE & NFPA relevant standards.  

  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed 3D BIM models / 2D CAD layouts for mechanical systems (HVAC, water services, foul drainage, fire protection, tunnel ventilation etc.) in MicroStation/OpenBuildings Designer. 

  • Produce coordinated drawings, including schematics, mechanical system functional schematics, standard installation layouts, equipment layouts, combined services layouts, structural penetration layouts, material delivery layouts, and schedules in accordance with project requirements. 

  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, electrical teams, and BIM managers for clash detection, coordination, and model integration. 

  • Ensure adherence to BIM standards, project BIM Execution Plans (BEP), model naming conventions, and documentation protocols. 

  • Perform model audits, maintain version control, and ensure model accuracy throughout project stages. 

  • Generate quantities, equipment schedules, and fabrication-ready information where needed. 

  • Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and model-based discussions with stakeholders. 

  • Support senior engineers and BIM leads with workflow optimisation and best BIM practices. 

  • Prepare and manage as‑built models and handover documentation in compliance with client standards. 

  • Should proactively seek personal and professional development opportunities. 

 

Candidate Specification 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum diploma in mechanical engineering. 

  • Candidates with additional certification in BIM, MicroStation, or digital engineering would be preferred. 

  • Candidate with ISO 19650 certification would be preferred. 

 

 

Essential Skills and Experience: 

 

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on BIM modelling experience in Mechanical systems within transportation buildings (e.g., metro-rail /railway stations, tunnels, plant rooms, transportation operational control centres /depots / administrative buildings). 

  • Overall, 5-10 years of experience in Mechanical system BIM modelling.  

  • Strong proficiency in MicroStation/Open Buildings Designer environment with demonstrated project experience. 

  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services, construction methodologies, and engineering drawings. 

  • Ability to interpret engineer mark‑ups, technical specifications, and convert them into 3D coordinated models. 

  • Excellent communication and team‑collaboration skills to work in a multidisciplinary engineering environment. 

  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage workload in a fast‑paced project context. 

  • Exposure to coordination tools such as Solibri, ACC, ProjectWise, or similar systems. 

  • Ability to work as part of a team is a must with ability to work unsupervised or minimum supervision. 

  • Ability to work on following supporting software:   

  • Bluebeam Revu/ PDF Xchange Editor  

  • Competent in using standard office software. 

 

Desirable Competencies / Skills: 

 

  • Proficiency in Revit environment with demonstrated project experience. 

  • Experience of working with tunnel ventilation systems, plant rooms, or rail‑specific mechanical services. 

  • Knowledge of Dynamo or scripting for Revit automation. 

  • Familiarity with Bentley OpenBuildings Designer workflows. 

  • Understanding of ISO 19650 digital project delivery standards. 

  • Experience in delivering as-built/BIM for FM models. 

  • Ability to contribute to BIM process improvements and template development.
