Mott MacDonald is currently seeking a Principal Project Engineer specializing in municipal roadways and highways to support clients across the Greater Toronto Area. The individual in this position will be responsible for successfully leading and delivering a variety of highway, transportation and roadway projects. You'll be responsible for engaging and working with our transportation clients in the local public transportation sector, including the province, contractors, and local municipalities to develop strong working relationships and deliver a variety of multi-modal transportation assignments including highways, municipal roadways, and transit infrastructure. 

As a Principal Project Engineer, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
 

  • Provide technical leadership in the delivery of preliminary and detailed design development of transportation projects (roads and highways) in both rural and urban environments.
  • Oversee the development of roadway designs according to TAC Standards and municipal standards and deliver packages of work as Engineer-of-Record with the assistance of other technical and production staff.
  • Engage as part of large multi-disciplinary design teams for highway and other transportation projects, review design documents for consistency and coordination.
  • Develop quantity take-offs, design criteria, and design reports throughout various stages of preliminary, functional, and detailed design.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers, as well as technicians/technologists.
  • Assist in the project proposal process as required.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders in the ongoing support to the business plan.

As the qualified candidate, you possess the following skills/qualifications:
 

  • B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and registered Professional Engineer with PEO
  • 15+ years of civil, roadway and highway design experience and a minimum 5-years experience in Canada for public and private sector clients.
  • Good working knowledge of Provincial and TAC design standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and a good working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build and harbour good working relationships with our business partners, suppliers, contractors, and clients.
  • RAQS qualification would be an asset.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.

 

 

The expected salary range for this position is from $152,000 - $185,000
