Job profile: 

As Principal Consultant, you will provide technical inputs to projects, manage partnerships and initiatives. You will be responsible for design or implement programs and strategies related to renewable. On the job, you would: Perform energy yield assessments, resource assessments, technology review, contracts, regulatory and policy reviews etc. Principal Consultant is responsible for working with the Technical Lead / Practice Leader to connect with the practice community. You will engage with clients and support to advance staff capability, unlock innovation, share knowledge, foster best practice, and drive sustainability.  

 

Job Description: 

  • You will be the subject matter expert for renewable energy / decarbonisation 

  • Ensure alignment with strategic priorities 

  • Develop and Review reports (detailed projects reports, feasibility reports, due diligence reports etc.) 

  • Project site visits and client engagement 

  • Working on the commercial and financial aspects of renewable energy projects through the complete project development lifecycle. 

  • Work closely with other energy team members and specialist delivery partners to supply specialist consultancy services where required and to support clients 

  • You will be working on energy sector and decarbonization models in renewables, storagehydrogen, carbon capture and utilisation 

  • Support pre-positioning of energy and renewable programs in your portfolio 

  • Technical Branding – You will strengthen technical branding through collaboration with global teams, development of technical communications and participating at conferences. 

  • Support development of technical briefs, capacity statements, program summaries and resource guides 

  • Participate in round table discussions and external forums 

  • Submit abstracts and participate in global conferences 

  • Engage in workshops and learning events 

  • Accountable for client satisfaction - This means supporting the PM and PP to ensure that right technical advice is made available to client satisfaction 

  • Accountable for sound project governance - This means ensuring formal reviews and application of lessons learnt within the project 

  • Provide inputs to methodology during bid development at WIN stage 

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Master’s in Renewable Energy preferred. 

  • Overall work experience 10-12 years 

  • In addition to education or education equivalent, requires a minimum of five years’ relevant work experience (international and with IFI’s). 

  • Significant knowledge and passion for renewable energy and decarbonisation 

  • Good exposure of developing concept design and writing technical reports. 

  • Knowledge of relevant institutions and donors. 

  • Demonstrated competencies in interpersonal communication, stakeholder engagement and cultural intelligence. 

  • Experience in energy sector - renewables  

  • Good communication skills 

  • Analytical skills 

  • Conversant with energy yield assessment for solar, wind and hybrid software
