Your Opportunity
Mott MacDonald's Water team has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the Brisbane office. We have recently been appointed onto the fully integrated ambitious Next Generation for Delivery (NG4D) program with Urban Utilities. Spanning up to 10 years, NG4D will see the planning, design, and construction of water, wastewater, network, and treatment infrastructure across Urban Utilities’ South East Queensland operational area. You will be producing and/or coordinating the production of engineering deliverables (and related activities) for water and wastewater design and construct (D&C) projects, including:
⦁ Chairing weekly design progress meetings and periodic design review meetings.
⦁ Overseeing the development and finalisation of engineering drawings.
⦁ Preparing design reports and other client specific deliverables.
⦁ Chairing design milestone workshops (e.g. SID, HAZOP, etc.) and associated reports and/or registers.
⦁ Oversee the production of specialist reports (e.g. Site Access, Tenure, Environmental and Planning (STEP) report).
⦁ Interfacing with third parties (suppliers, sub-contractors, etc.), including preparing specifications, coordination, and reviewing deliverables.
You will be working with a team to define, develop and select options to meet client defined outcomes with a view to selecting the best value solution, including:
⦁ Identifying risks and opportunities and managing the mitigation of the associated risks and/or realisation of the associated opportunities.
⦁ Developing a solution scope in adequate engineering detail to allow capital and whole life costing, while meeting the outcomes, be buildable, and represent best value to customers.
⦁ Experience in undertaking embodied and operational carbon calculations.
⦁ Use of multi criteria analysis (or similar) assessment techniques.
⦁ Developing and managing a design budget and program, including management of change and tracking earned value.
⦁ Support, develop and mentor junior engineers.
⦁ Application of your past construction and commissioning experience into all aspects of design.
⦁ Support and provide input to new bid opportunities.
About You
⦁ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
⦁ CPEng and RPEQ (or be in the process of obtaining within 6 – 12 months)
⦁ Demonstrate a broad understanding of wastewater treatment processes, wastewater networks, and water networks, and their associated infrastructure.
⦁ Proven experience as an engineer delivering and leading water and wastewater projects, preferably with some experience within design and construction projects.
⦁ Extensive knowledge of local and national standards and drawings, including Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA).
⦁ Proficiency in general Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). Experience in other engineering software preferred, but not essential.
⦁ Ability to maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients
⦁ Be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and written skills.
