Principal Planning Consultant - Environment, Climate and Sustainability Team
 

Join our dynamic Environment, Climate and Sustainability team in Queensland, where we are committed to making a positive impact on our environment and society. Our multi-disciplinary team covers all aspects of environmental impact assessment, permits and approvals, climate resilience, strategic planning, corporate sustainability reporting, and strategy development. We are looking for a Principal Planning Consultant who is passionate about driving change and making a difference.

 

Your Role

As a Principal Planning Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in our team, with opportunities for:

  • Providing Expert Advice: Offer planning approval advice and prepare approval applications for a variety of projects, including large and small-scale infrastructure and energy projects.
  • Environmental Planning: Deliver environmental planning and regulatory advice to clients, ensuring compliance and sustainability.
  • High-Quality Documentation: Oversee and undertake the preparation of planning and environmental approvals, planning assessments, feasibility studies, permitting and licensing documentation, and support the development of technical assessments, management plans, and other documents to a high standard.
  • Team Growth: Manage and support the development of proposals and bid submissions, driving the growth of the planning team.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Project Management: Manage and liaise with environment consultants and other planning consultants to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Work collaboratively as part of an integrated advisory sector and across project teams, promoting teamwork and valuing diversity.

 

About You

We are looking for someone who embodies our values of trust, integrity, and societal impact. You should have:

  • Relevant Qualifications: A tertiary qualification in Planning or a related field, with experience in town planning, environmental and planning approvals, and planning permits.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of the Queensland and Commonwealth planning and approvals process and legislation relevant to infrastructure projects.
  • Stakeholder Management: The ability to develop and manage successful internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills to achieve high-quality delivery outcomes for approvals.
  • Proven experience undertaking planning assessments and approvals for energy/renewable projects.
  • Working knowledge of the MID process in sectors such as energy, water, defence, and/or transport is ideal.
