About the business unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.
Overview of the role
Our Energy unit have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Air Quality Consultant to join their growing team located in one of our Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Inverness, Leeds, London, Manchester offices. You'll have the opportunity to be involved in projects not only in the UK but internationally across a variety of sectors including energy, transportation and advisory.
Our recent international air quality jobs have been in countries such as Ireland, Australia, Hong Kong, Qatar, Vietnam, Barbados, the USA and the UAE. Our energy projects span from CCGT, energy from waste to biomass, diesel and gas engines, whist our transportation projects include aviation, rail and highways. We are involved in providing technical advice to a range of clients, such as lenders, who are either looking to develop or acquire a assets globally.
With us, in addition to delivering air quality assessments for UK planning and permit applications and EIA's, you will undertake large scale air quality projects on behalf of governments, international financial institutions and private banks. You’ll be responsible for providing country wide policy advice, monitoring and modelling as well as leading air quality assessments, undertaking project technical reviews, project management and helping to train and supervise junior team members. Winning work is an essential part of our business, and you will also have the opportunity to get involved in business development and production of proposals.
James will be your manager: “We have an array of exciting projects lined up, including major UK infrastructure initiatives, UK planning applications with EIA's, environmental permit applications, international development projects, and nationally significant infrastructure projects in the UK. You'll be an integral part of my team, delivering these remarkable projects. We are looking for someone who has the drive to deliver high quality work and is looking for more responsibility in a role as a senior air quality consultant.”
Candidate specification
We are looking for someone with at least five years past experience as an air quality consultant who is able to lead air quality assessments and coach junior members of the team. Having experience of leading bids and project management would also be advantageous. We are looking for a candidate with suitable academic qualifications such as a Degree or Masters in a relevant subject.
While we’re involved with a lot of energy and international work, we also need you to have experience on UK transport related projects as these are ongoing and you’ll need to be familiar with the UK assessment approaches and related tools required including ADMS-Roads, ADMS and/or AERMOD and GIS platforms. Experience in modelling transport and industrial related emissions as part of air quality assessments for planning and permit applications is going to be essential as well as being able to provide comprehensive high quality reports both for stand alone and EIA assessments.
