Mott MacDonald is looking for a Utilities Engineer in Raleigh, NC. As a Senior Utility Engineer, you will be involved with utility projects, but will also have exposure to different rail, roadway, and civil infrastructure projects. Not only will you be involved in a wide range of responsibilities, but you’ll also have the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills. 

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Perform relocation design of municipal and private third-party utilities on civil infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, studies, and designs for projects.
    • Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and other project deliverables.
  • Compile and compute a variety of engineering data.
  • Work collaboratively with the design team to develop detailed design documents for construction plans.
  • Review interface designs against existing and proposed utility infrastructure and work collaboratively with various project teams to resolve conflicts.
  • Work with utility coordination staff that handle the dry utility relocations on projects
  • Attend project meetings, and prepare agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Must have the ability to work on multiple unique assignments simultaneously.

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering-related degree
  • 10+ years experience in transportation or civil engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), in the state of North Carolina.
  • Engineering design background, preferably utilities, drainage, roadway, land development, or municipal engineering.
  • Proficiency with CAD particularly MicroStation and OpenRoads.
  • Familiarity with NCDOT design standards and policies.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as GEOPAK Drainage, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and other engineering software is a plus.
  • Technical background and project experience demonstrating the potential to grow into a design role in the transportation field.
  • Written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present effective technical reports.
  • Occasional travel and will require a Driver's License.
