The Survey Safety and Compliance Specialist is a crucial role responsible for ensuring the organization and seamless workflow of land surveying projects. This position involves implementing processes with survey staff post onboarding, training (internal and external), management of supplies, equipment, client requirements and general safety procedures. The survey specialist will be the primary point of contact for post on boarding training, survey safety-related inquiries, coordinating safety gear/supplies, general survey supplies, training documentation/tracking, and ensuring adherence to internal and client safety requirements. With a focus on Mott MacDonald's survey staff, the Survey Safety and Compliance Specialist position plays a key role in promoting a safe and efficient working environment with tasks including, but not limited, to the below.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Promote positive intervention submissions
  • Provide monthly reporting to management
  • Ensure the availability of necessary safety supplies for field staff across the nation
  • Coordinate procurement of general survey supplies (wood, rebar, hammers, batteries, etc.)
  • Coordinate disbursement of survey equipment (GPS, total stations, utility locators, etc.)
  • Understand different safety needs depending on location, terrain, client standards and other factors
  • Management of operator qualification vendors (ISNetWorld, Veriforce, etc.)
  • Tracking staff OQ status, providing renewal training and/or coordinating renewals through 3rd party suppliers
  • Provide client safety reports as needed
  • Meet with staff either in person or virtually to discuss Mott MacDonald safety and advise on necessary training
  • Facilitate pertinent MM and client required training
  • Supply and manage safety gear (PPE)
  • Provide project safety overviews at kickoff meetings
  • Be the safety point of contact for client questions, concerns, and reporting
  • Coordinate project-specific safety documents
  • Meet with safety management and project leads as needed
  • Hold monthly safety calls with survey staff to keep safety front of mind and discuss incidents and reporting
  • Conduct lessons learned discussions after incidents
  • Assist with survey data quality control and data management as needed


We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in the field of survey or other related field services
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Efficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Operator Qualification Proctor/Evaluator certificate through Veriforce and ISNetworld
  • OSHA 30 certificate
  • Acquire Project Safety Advisor certificate (Internal Mott MacDonald upon onboarding)
  • Willing to travel
  • Successful completion of the pre-employment physical, background check and drug screen
