On a day-to-day basis the successful candidate will support the delivery of multiple strategic projects for public and private sector clients by leading mandates related to sustainability and climate change for major infrastructure projects. The focus of this role will be delivering sustainability frameworks on major infrastructure and buildings projects, including the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s Envision Framework and the LEED rating system. 

 

Typical work will involve:   

  • Manage sustainability implementation on large capital projects for a range of public and private sector clients. This will include the Envision Framework and the LEED rating system.  

  • Develop sustainability management plans for major infrastructure projects, addressing climate and sustainability metrics including GHG emissions, climate resiliency, waste management and reduction, construction energy use, and materials procurement. 

  • Collaborate with sustainability subject specialists (including climate resiliency and GHG emissions) to conduct assessments of sustainability performance metrics and integrate sustainability strategies into project delivery. 

  • Work with wider project teams, including internal design teams and contractors, to embed and deliver sustainability requirements across the project lifecycle.  

  • Exercise project leadership through supporting project managers and teams to deliver high quality work and exercise sound commercial awareness. 

  • Participate in the wider global community of advisory and climate change consultants within Mott MacDonald, collaborating with colleagues across all regions. 

  • Mentor and coach junior colleagues to build their capabilities and commercial awareness. 

  • Together with others in the team, provide thought leadership in the market, prepare materials for and attend industry events, and engage with our clients to share our collective experience. 

 

Candidates who can demonstrate the following skills and experience will be considered for the role: 

  • A post-secondary degree and 7-10 years of career experience related to engineering and/or infrastructure development. 

  • Demonstrable experience in obtaining final Envision and LEED verification on projects is strongly preferred. 

  • Active Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) and/or LEED Accredited Professional Building Design + Construction (LEED AP BD+C) is strongly preferred.  

  • Experience working with various traditional and alternative delivery mechanisms in infrastructure, including Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build. 

  • Sound commercial understanding and desire to operate within a dynamic commercial environment. 

  • Clear, concise writing style and experience in proposal writing for a range of audiences. 

  • Demonstrated business development experience with a track record of growing a business and securing and successfully completing CC&S projects. 

  • Familiar and proficient with project management principles and processes, including budgeting and managing contractual. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working within a team environment. 

  • Mentoring junior staff. 

  • Excellent written and presentation skills. 

  • Able to work independently and unsupervised.

At Mott MacDonald, we provide a comprehensive benefit package that includes 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance, short-term/long-term disability, paid holidays, PTO, parental leave and company paid life insurance. 

The expected salary for this position is $121,000 - $148,000. 

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
