A design concept for the new Engineering Training School at the Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Culdrose in Cornwall, delivered by Mott MacDonald

Appointed by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) Major Programmes and Projects - Navy, Air and Defence Equipment & Support in 2019 on behalf of the Royal Navy, Mott MacDonald has already undertaken feasibility studies and delivered concept designs for buildings and infrastructure across the base, ensuring best value for the DIO.

Mott MacDonald DIO client director Chris Ackerman said: “This transformational project will provide the modern and sustainable infrastructure that meets the future needs of the Royal Navy while also reflecting their operational goals."

Our expertise delivering critical infrastructure for the Defence Estate continues to help strengthen the UK’s national defence capabilities by modernising core facilities and enhancing operational readiness.

RNAS Culdrose is home to the Royal Navy’s anti-submarine warfare helicopter fleet, the unit dedicated to protecting the Navy’s aircraft carrier strike groups and is integral to the UK’s defence capability. The base houses the engineering training school responsible for air engineering specialist training, delivering fully trained engineers to support Merlin helicopter operations.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2029.
