Mott MacDonald has appointed Dr Kam Al-Mazrui as sports and events director for its Middle East business. Based in Riyadh, Kam will work closely with public and private stakeholders in Saudi Arabia and across the Middle East to deliver world class arenas and training centres used for elite international events and community sport and leisure activities.
Kam has multidisciplinary project experience on urban mega-projects and premier sports destinations across the Middle East, including stadiums, arenas and sports parks designed to inspire healthier lifestyles. Previously, he was head of sports and entertainment for the Middle East and Africa at Buro Happold, based in Riyadh, and led large teams across its global business.
Mott MacDonald is well-positioned to support Saudi Vision 2030’s ambition of transforming the Kingdom into a premier global sport and entertainment hub. With a team of global experts in the design of iconic venues for international events, Mott MacDonald has supported on the delivery of landmark projects, such as Everton FC’s new 52,888 capacity football stadium in Liverpool; One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha; and the sustainable velodrome delivered for the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
