Welsh Government appoints Mott MacDonald and Arcadis for key A483 road scheme

Mott MacDonald and Arcadis have been appointed by the Welsh Government as technical advisor and employer’s agent for the A483 Llandeilo to Ffairfach relief road. Together, they will deliver the next phase of this strategically important infrastructure scheme in West Wales.

The team will be responsible for taking the project through design development, statutory order publication and construction supervision.

The A483 Llandeilo to Ffairfach relief road scheme aims to address the localised impact of traffic in Llandeilo and Ffairfach, which sit on the Strategic Road Network and experience high volumes of HGV traffic. The new route will divert through-traffic away from the town centres, creating safer, more pedestrian-friendly environments while unlocking opportunities for regeneration.

The appointment builds on Mott MacDonald’s recent delivery of major A40 Llanddewi Velfrey to Redstone Cross improvements in Pembrokeshire, reinforcing its strength in delivering strategic highway schemes across Wales.

We’re excited to help deliver a scheme that will make a real difference to communities in Llandeilo and Ffairfach — improving safety, supporting regeneration and enabling more sustainable travel. Partnering with Arcadis, we look forward to bringing our shared expertise to this important project.
