Biography

Adam Butterfield is the energy infrastructure leader for Mott MacDonald in Canada. In his role, Adam oversees development and growth of our electricity supply and transmission infrastructure business in Canada.

He has 25 years of electricity and transportation experience in the public and private energy sectors. His expertise includes project development, financing, commercialization, procurement design and administration, contract negotiations, system planning, interconnection, market design and operation, and policy development. He is familiar with all major and emerging energy project types, including natural gas, nuclear, wind, solar, hydro, bioenergy, battery storage, and AC/DC transmission.

Earlier in his career, Adam oversaw some of North America’s largest renewable energy acquisition programs, including Ontario’s Feed-in Tariff and Large Renewable Procurement programs. He also helped deploy Canada’s first utility-scale solar farm near Napanee, Ontario.

Prior to his work in energy, Adam was a transportation engineer focused on planning, preliminary design, and environmental assessment studies for road, highway, transit, and border crossing projects.
