Mott MacDonald is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced Project/Senior Civil Engineer in our New Orleans, LA office. You will be assigned to a team working on a variety of civil engineering projects focused on transportation.

In this role you will act as both a client facing key leader, driving engaged relationship and being a main point of contact, as well as an internal design leader. You will lead the design (planning through final detailed design) of civil engineering projects, primarily in transportation for our Louisiana projects.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Be a forward-facing client relationship manager with LADOTD and local municipal clients.
  • Oversee project financials, reporting, and contracts.
  • Prepare and lead technical design, reports, specifications, and proposals.
  • Using design manuals and standards to develop geometric design plans, alignments, profiles, cross sections, paving and striping layouts, traffic control plans
  • Performing hydrology and hydraulic drainage calculations.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
  • Performing construction oversight through site inspections, investigations, and monitoring contractor compliance
  • Provide support to project management and project control tasks.
  • Attend and lead in project, client, and team meetings
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, as needed
  • Mentor junior staff and actively participating in our ‘Early Careers Professional’ Network
  • Improving your organizational skills and developing toward a project manager

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • At least 8+ years’ experience performing civil engineering design
  • Active Louisiana (PE) Professional Engineering license
  • LTRC certified in Traffic Engineering Process & Report, preferred
  • ATTSA Traffic Control Supervisor, preferred
  • Previous client relationship experience
  • Previous experience completing LADOTD traffic studies
  • Previous experience designing LADOTD transportation projects
  • Previous experience in geometric roadway design and MUTCD standards
  • Understanding in software’s such as MicroStation and Civil 3D, Procore, and Microsoft Office products (such as Project, Excel, and Word)
  • Methodical approach to problem-solving to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members
  • Written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail, with an ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings
