Electrical Engineer – Building Services (Early Career) | Auckland

Create positive, lasting impact with a team that empowers you to be brilliant.
Join an inclusive, collaborative, employee‑owned consultancy where you’ll grow your skills and contribute to projects across workplaces, education, health, transport hubs, and civic spaces.

The opportunity
Based in Auckland (Wynyard Quarter), you’ll help deliver building‑services projects that make a difference. You’ll contribute from day one, learn from experienced colleagues, and build the confidence to take on increasing responsibility.

What you’ll do

  • Contribute to LV power distribution, lighting/emergency lighting, small power and specialist systems; produce calculations, layouts/mark‑ups, scopes and reports.
  • Coordinate with architecture, structural, HVAC, hydraulics and fire to resolve clashes and optimise designs.
  • Support delivery through site inspections, contractor queries and quality assurance.
  • Apply standard procedures and digital tools (e.g., Revit/AutoCAD, lighting software) to produce accurate deliverables.
  • Work to agreed budgets and dates; provide clear updates on workload, progress and resourcing.
  • Ensure work is reviewed by senior staff and meets Mott MacDonald quality and compliance standards.
  • Develop your technical judgment, make preliminary selections/adaptations, and follow information‑management systems.

About you
You’re a collaborative, curious problem‑solver who communicates clearly and enjoys multidisciplinary teamwork. You bring around 1–3 years’ experience (or equivalent capability) in building‑services electrical design. Familiarity with Revit/AutoCAD and lighting tools is great; a willingness to learn is essential. You take a proactive approach to safety, quality, coordination and continuous improvement.

Why join us

  • Employee ownership with a genuine stake in our success.
  • Discretionary group and personal performance bonuses (eligibility applies).
  • KiwiSaver employer contribution up to 5% (eligibility applies).
  • Agile working and a supportive, inclusive culture.
  • Wellbeing support including EAP and core insurance cover.
