About the Job:

Mott MacDonald is looking to recruit an Electrical Inspector to work on an RTA Metro Station Enhancement project in the UAE. The role involves site-based inspection and supervision of electrical works to ensure compliance with contract requirements, RTA standards, statutory regulations, and Mott MacDonald’s quality and safety procedures, particularly within a live operational metro environment.

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

  • Respond to and attend Inspection Requests (IRs) submitted by the contractor and recommend or take appropriate action where necessary.
  • Review submitted shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements against contract drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with RTA requirements, local authority regulations, and international best practice.
  • Inspect and monitor electrical works including LV power distribution, lighting systems, emergency lighting, earthing and bonding, cable containment, power outlets, ELV systems interfaces, and associated station electrical services.
  • Report any electrical works executed by the contractor that do not comply with approved specifications and inform relevant stakeholders where required.
  • Witness testing, commissioning, inspection, and functional testing of electrical systems and installations.
  • Monitor works with respect to HSE and environmental requirements, ensuring compliance with approved HSE plans, risk assessments, and safety procedures, especially when working within live metro stations.
  • Apply and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures for electrical works on site.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports for all site activities, including inspection logs, daily site records, and progress reports, ensuring they are available for review.
  • Prepare surveillance reports and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when required and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure effective coordination with other disciplines, including mechanical, civil, architectural, and systems teams, to avoid interface issues.
  • Provide technical assistance to resolve any electrical-related issues that may arise during construction, testing, commissioning, or handover stages.

Candidate Specification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an internationally accredited university (Diploma with extensive relevant experience may be considered).
  • Significant experience in electrical inspection or site supervision, preferably on metro, rail, transport infrastructure, or large public building projects.
  • Proven experience across electrical power systems, lighting, emergency systems, earthing, and ELV coordination is essential.
  • Previous experience on RTA projects or working in live operational environments is highly desirable.
  • Continuously seeks innovation and improvement to manage workload effectively and deliver high-quality outcomes across individuals, teams, and projects.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and coordination skills, fostering effective working relationships aligned with Mott MacDonald’s collaborative values.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and culturally diverse teams across complex project environments.
