Engineer Transmission Line

 

We are seeking a Professional Engineer to support the design and delivery of overhead and underground transmission line projects across Mott MacDonald’s Northeast Division. Based from NYC or Boston, this role is ideal for an engineer with 5+ years of experience who is growing technical depth while taking increasing responsibility for project execution, coordination, and client support.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support the design and analysis of overhead and underground transmission lines (69kV–500kV), including structure loading, conductor selection, and line routing.
  • Apply NESC, ASCE, and utility standards to ensure compliant, high‑quality designs.
  • Assist with project delivery from concept through construction, including scheduling, estimating, and coordination.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project scope.
  • Coordinate with project managers, designers, and other disciplines to meet schedule and budget objectives.
  • Provide technical input for proposals and bids as required.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to support delivery goals.
  • Follow company standards, safety processes, and risk management practices.
  • Support a collaborative, inclusive, and safety‑focused team environment.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • 5+ years of experience in transmission line or related utility infrastructure engineering.
  • Working knowledge of PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE, SAG10, or LPILE.
  • Experience working with utilities, EPC contractors, or engineering consultants.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or BIM tools preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

 

The expected salary for this position is: $120,000 - $135,000
