Our Energy Environment and Social Team has members located in the UK, Italy, Spain, Canada and Colombia.  We provide services including EIA, ESIA, due diligence and monitoring for energy projects across Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa.  We are seeking an experienced environmental and/or social performance specialist. 

The role is to lead on leading our existing team in Colombia and grow our environment and social service offerings to new and existing clients within the region. The successful candidate will have solid experience within a similar role.

 

Principal accountabilities
-    Reporting to the Environment and Social Resource Lead in the UK
-    line management responsibility for the environment and social team in Colombia
-    resource planning; resource allocation; recruitment; performance management; training and development; promotion of health, safety and wellbeing; coaching and development of staff
-    lead the delivery and growth of the environment and social team’s services with a focus on the energy sector 
-    develop and implement the business plan in Latin America and the Caribbean 
-    coordination of responses to requests for proposals
-    leading environmental and social assessment, due diligence and monitoring projects
-    financial responsibility and project principal/manager of large environment and social projects


Candidate specification

Essential
-    Degree in relevant discipline
-    Membership of a relevant professional body
-    Extensive relevant postgraduate work experience in environment or social disciplines including Environmental Impact and Social Assessment, due diligence and construction and operational monitoring
-    Extensive track record in assessing energy projects for compliance with international lenders’ requirements
-    Technical leadership and analytical skills;
-    Experience in delegating responsibilities and accountabilities; managing performance; motivating staff; creating open communication
-    Skills in project management; programming and planning; resource allocation; financial management; contractual acumen
-    Ability to develop and manage customer and client relationships
-    Experience of working on projects in Latin America, the Caribbean
-    Fluent in Spanish and English

Desirable
-    Fluent in French
-    Experience of working on projects in Europe and Africa
-    In depth skills in a specialist area of environment or social safeguards
