Overview of the role

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Work across the region and units to produce the annual events schedule, with periodic updates
  • Manage the development and continual improvement of event delivery toolkits, processes, and platforms for efficient, high-quality delivery
  • Lead and manage the delivery of select high-profile and strategic events, including major exhibitions, flagship events, and campaign-linked events
  • Work in close collaboration with the appropriate Marketing and Communication Lead and others in the function to manage the delivery of other exhibitions, including all stand activity, speaking and sponsorship activities
  • Work in close collaboration with the appropriate Marketing and Communication Lead and others in the function to develop and deliver own events (both internal and external events), such as; roundtables, conferences, webinars, socials, townhalls etc
  • Shape the full event experience - from developing event concept and narratives, to project management and delivery – working with Unit Marketing Leads to ensure alignment with business objectives and target audience needs
  • Work closely with the Campaign team on event promotion and campaigning, helping to define target audiences, and create and deliver some event promotion activity
  • Develop and lead the process to ensure lead-generation management, event de-brief and overall event impact and ROI evaluation
  • Responsibility for activity connected to priority sponsorships and some select institutional/member body engagements (e.g. Royal Academy of Engineering, National Railway Museum, ACE)
  • Oversee and provide strategic input into the region’s awards programme, collaborating closely with the Content team on submissions and communications, including planning and project management, through to ceremony attendance and award communications
  • Keep up-to-date with event best practice and emerging trends to ensure our approaches are best in class
  • Ensure the corporate brand, visual identity, tone of voice and technical excellence standards are properly represented in all activities

 

 

Candidate specification

We are looking for an experienced events manager to join our team and work across the region’s busy programme of events and awards activity. You will be responsible for producing and updating the region’s events and awards schedule and calendar; for the delivery of a variety of events for both internal and external audiences; from large exhibitions and conferences to own events, roundtables, webinars and forums; spanning all aspects of event planning and delivery. 

 

You will also be responsible for overseeing the region’s awards activities and supporting key sponsorships and some institutional engagement activity. You will engage widely across the marketing function and must be an excellent collaborator and team player, confidently able to take briefs and execute successfully.
