Job Summary:
As a GIS Field Technician, you will be tasked to support various field project efforts that may include, but are not limited to, collection of GPS data, assisting with traffic counts, entry level inspection of utility infrastructure and other field project support as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field surveys to collect GPS data for utility assets.
- Assist with placement and recovery of traffic counters in various areas throughout WV.
- Assist with inspections of utility and customer service line material.
- Interact with utility customers to explain the purpose of the visit and address any questions or concerns.
- Use handheld GPS devices and other technical equipment to gather and record data.
- Document and report findings accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Adhere to safety protocols and company policies during field operations.
- Some overnight travel may be required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Familiarity or aptitude for field data collection, inspections, or a related role.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and in team environment and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to walk, stand, and navigate uneven terrain.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
