We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Design Manager to lead the design delivery of complex infrastructure projects in Toronto. The successful candidate will serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring design excellence and integration across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the design development of large-scale infrastructure projects.
Act as the primary liaison with stakeholders, ensuring alignment on design objectives and delivery.
Oversee multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring coordination across civil, structural, architectural, MEP, and systems engineering disciplines.
Develop and implement design strategies, project structures, and delivery plans to meet project milestones and budget.
Ensure compliance with BIM standards and digital delivery requirements.
Provide leadership and mentorship to design managers, engineers, and technical staff.
Manage design processes, approvals, and quality assurance across all project phases.
Support construction teams with design-related queries and field changes.
Promote innovation and continuous improvement in design practices and project delivery.
Required Qualifications
MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario or eligible for licensure.
PMP certification is an asset.
Minimum 15 years of experience in design management of major infrastructure projects.
Proven experience in underground transit systems, multidisciplinary coordination, and large team leadership.
Strong understanding of BIM Level 2 and model-based delivery.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working in design-build and collaborative contract environments.
Preferred Experience
Leadership roles in infrastructure projects involving underground transit systems, stations, tunnels, and multidisciplinary design integration.
Experience managing large design teams across multiple geographies.
Familiarity with Canadian infrastructure standards and regulatory environments.
