Overview of the role
The EUNA Region (EUNA) is recruiting a new Managing Director (Unit General Manager internally) for our Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) Unit to provide leadership and strategic direction to their respective business areas and across the EUNA region.
The UGM role will report to the Regional General Manager (RGM) and will be expected to deliver and embed all Group, Regional and Market Strategies within their Units. They will be responsible for establishing a sound knowledge of the market environment in which they operate, building relationships with key clients, winning and delivery of projects and the leadership of their teams.
The UGM’s will be a member of the EUNA Executive Team and will be expected to act as an ambassador and voice for Mott MacDonald within the EUNA Region, articulating and representing the brand, vision and value proposition.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
Strategy & Operations
- Provide strategic guidance and direction to ensure the Unit’s ambition aligns to and contributes to the group and regional strategies
- Working collaboratively with key stakeholders, to develop and communicate unit business plans, strategic objectives and budgets
- Develop and lead Mott MacDonald’s win and do operations within the appointed Unit
- Grow and nurture key external relationships and build and maintain strong networks with clients, business partners and competitors, driving joint initiatives where appropriate and use these networks to influence and impact the growth and direction of the business
- Work collaboratively with other Units, Regions and Markets, acting as an exemplar role model and ambassador for Mott MacDonald, articulating and representing the brand, ambition and value proposition internally and externally
- Using an in-depth understanding and knowledge, investigate, analyse and manage risks, market opportunities, and the competitive landscape, to prepare and deliver Unit strategic plans and feed into both Regional and Market Plans
- Support Divisional General Managers/Portfolio Leads to win and deliver their projects and programmes of work ensuring that our STEP processes and procedures are followed and BMS requirements fulfilled
- Act as a role model for Health, Safety and Wellbeing for the Unit
- Regularly review performance and monitor progress of Unit and Divisional/Portfolio plans, and stated objectives, against monthly Key Performance Indictors
- Ensure the Unit achieves its objectives and optimises financial performance and operational productivity by embracing innovation, digital applications and building capability in GDS
- Be accountable for overall achievement of Unit budgets, striving for continual improvement across Divisions/Portfolios in project performance through the utilisation of sound financial management principles and a continual review of appropriate management information

- Leadership of the Divisional General Managers/ Portfolio Leads within the Unit
- Leadership of all enabling functions and activities within the unit including HR, Commercial, Business Development, Win, Technical Excellence, Digital & Operational Management
- Help to build an environment where people are motivated, encouraged and empowered to be at their very best
- Encourage inclusion and diversity across the portfolio and wider unit
- Support career development and help to create opportunities for our people through performance management, talent management and succession planning

Collaboration
- Be part of the EUNA Executive Team, support in the leadership of the Region and provide challenge to drive continuous improvement. Champion delivery of the Region objectives and support other members of the Regional Executive
- Build key relationship across the region and the group to support the growth of the Unit and Region

- Experience of managing teams and/or operational or functional business areas
- Strategic Leaders with good knowledge of relevant markets and key client
- Excellent Leadership skills able to motivate, engage and inspire others
- Effective Team Builder able to bring together individuals to deliver an exceptional service to our clients
- Exceptional collaborator able to work effectively with others
- Great communicator able to listen to, support and direct the Unit
