About the Job:
Mott MacDonald is looking to recruit a Mechanical Inspector to work on an RTA Metro Station Enhancement project in the UAE. The role involves site-based inspection and supervision of mechanical works to ensure compliance with contract requirements, authority regulations, and Mott MacDonald’s quality, safety, and technical standards.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Respond to and attend Inspection Requests (IRs) submitted by the contractor and recommend or take appropriate action where necessary.
- Review submitted shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements against contract drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with RTA requirements, local authority codes, and international best practice.
- Inspect and monitor mechanical works including HVAC systems, station ventilation, plumbing and drainage, fire fighting systems, pumping systems, and associated mechanical services.
- Report any mechanical works executed by the contractor that do not comply with approved specifications and inform relevant stakeholders where required.
- Witness testing, commissioning, and performance verification of mechanical systems.
- Monitor works with respect to HSE and environmental requirements, ensuring compliance with project HSE plans, risk assessments, and safe working practices—particularly within live metro environments.
- Apply and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures for all mechanical works on site.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of all site activities, including daily logs, progress reports, and inspection records, ensuring they are readily available for review.
- Prepare surveillance reports and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when required and follow up on corrective actions.
- Ensure effective coordination between multiple disciplines, including civil, architectural, electrical, and systems teams.
- Provide technical assistance to resolve any mechanical-related issues that may arise during construction, testing, or handover stages.
Candidate Specification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an internationally accredited university (Diploma with extensive relevant experience may be considered).
- Significant experience in mechanical inspection or site supervision, preferably on metro, rail, transport infrastructure, or large public buildings projects.
- Proven experience of HVAC systems, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems is essential.
- Prior experience on RTA projects or within live operational environments is highly desirable.
- Continuously seeks innovation and improvement to manage workload effectively and deliver high-quality outcomes across individuals, teams, and projects.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, contributing to a positive and professional site environment in line with Mott MacDonald values.
- Ability to work effectively with teams from diverse cultural and technical backgrounds in a multidisciplinary project environment.
