We are launching a new product portfolio that will become the foundation of all project delivery at Mott MacDonald: 

 

A collaborative delivery platform that brings together project teams, partners and clients into one place to simplify and supercharge project delivery, delivering better outcomes for society across global infrastructure delivery.   

 

This AIenabled platform will set us up for the next decade of transformative technology change. We aim to lead the industry with a highly ambitious vision. Initial pilots are live; now we seek a highly skilled and effective Principal Product Manager to confirm our strategy, accelerate progress and deliver impact at scale.

As a Principal Product Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of our digital transformation journey. Your role won’t just be about managing products; it’s about driving outcomes, creating impact and empowering change. You will lead the product management function in a 250strong team of product leads, product managers, developers, data scientists and designers—driving and owning our ways of working across the entire product management organisation globally. 

 

What You’ll Focus On 

 

  • Drive strategic impact: Play a central role in developing our product management capability, aligning innovation with measurable outcomes. As part of a focused product leadership team, help steer the direction of digital products that support decarbonisation, resilience and efficiency across global projects. 
  • Collaborate across sectors: Work closely with specialists in engineering, design, software development and data science. Your work will be shaped by diverse perspectives and deep domain expertise, ensuring our products are technically sound and meaningful to the people who use them. 
  • Integrate AI thoughtfully: In our AI enabled ecosystem, embed intelligence into our products in ways that enhance user experience and commercial value. Focus on understanding customer needs and translating them into intuitive, data informed solutions that support sustainable outcomes. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Product Strategy & Vision 

  • Define and communicate a compelling product vision aligned with broader organisational goals and industry leadership ambitions. 
  • Develop product roadmaps that balance customer needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility. 
  • Incorporate feedback from customers and stakeholders into strategy and prioritisation. 

 

Lead & Coach – Global Ways of Working 

  • Drive our ways of working for the entire product management organisation—codifying frameworks for discovery, delivery and measurement. 
  • Coach and support PMs, SPMs and PPMs globally to achieve their product goals, leading by example as the portfolio owner. 
  • Embed lean, agile and modern product management practices and contribute to the continuous evolution of our product function. 

 

Product Development & Execution 

  • Lead end-to-end product development for the collaborative delivery platform portfolio, from concept to delivery and scaleup. 
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams (engineering, design, domain experts, marketing) to ensure successful execution. 
  • Monitor progress, manage risks and adapt plans to deliver highquality outcomes. 

 

Market Research & Insights 

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer pain points, and the competitive landscape. 
  • Gather insights from customers, project teams, business development, and industry experts. 
  • Use data driven analysis and experimentation to inform decisions and validate assumptions. 

 

Stakeholder Management 

  • Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and partners. 
  • Understand their needs, pain points and business objectives, translating them into actionable product features and outcomes. 
  • Communicate progress, decisions and tradeoffs clearly and credibly. 

 

Product Lifecycle Management 

  • Define metrics to measure product success and track performance across discovery, delivery and adoption. 
  • Continuously improve based on user feedback, telemetry and market dynamics. 
  • Make informed decisions about enhancements, updates and retirements to optimise value. 

 

Business Acumen 

  • Understand the B2B landscape, industry trends and competitive forces across the AEC sector. 
  • Identify growth opportunities, partnerships, and areas for differentiation. 
  • Balance shortterm revenue goals with longterm strategic vision and platform sustainability. 

 

Data & AI Integration 

  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to infuse AI capabilities (e.g., predictive analytics, intelligent assistance, automation) into the platform. 
  • Ensure AI solutions align with customer needs, ethical standards, security and commercial value. 
  • Strategically leverage data and AI insights without overengineering—creating innovative, usercentric and commercially viable products. 

 

Candidate Specification: 

Formal Education & Experience 

  • University degree in business, engineering or a related field. 
  • Extensive product management experience (preferably B2B), including leadership of complex products or portfolios. 
  • Track record of successful product launches, client satisfaction and influencing organisational practices. 

 

Skills & Abilities 

  • Strong leadership and communication skills; able to influence without direct authority. 
  • Strategic thinker with a customercentric mindset and a bias for action—passionate and visionary, yet pragmatic and deliveryfocused. 
  • Proven collaboration across functions and with senior stakeholders. 
  • Adaptability in a dynamic business environment; comfortable with discovery, ambiguity and iteration. 

 

Preferred Experience 

  • B2B software, enterprise solutions or industrial sectors. 
  • Partner management and ecosystem development. 
  • Technical software background; knowledge of AI and data products desirable. 
  • Experience shaping product operating models and ways of working at scale. 

 

Success Metrics 

  • Clear, validated strategy and accelerated delivery for the collaborative delivery platform portfolio. 
  • Adoption, usage and measurable outcomes across global projects 
  • Maturity and consistency of product management practices across all portfolios. 
  • Positive feedback from PMs and stakeholders on coaching, frameworks and leadership.
