The Opportunity

 We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Safety & Wellbeing Lead to support our Defence contract. The Safety and Wellbeing Lead (Projects) will ensure safe delivery of Project Delivery Services (PDS) within Defence programs by developing and implementing robust WHS strategies, systems, and training. This role is pivotal in fostering a safety-first culture, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with Commonwealth legislation and Defence standards.

The Safety and Wellbeing Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive health and safety strategy for the Project Delivery Services (PDS) Package, ensuring alignment with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices. They will actively promote health, safety, and wellbeing across the PDS program and projects, identifying potential risks associated with project delivery and developing mitigation strategies where required and a focus on continuous improvement and assurance.

 

Depending on your specific expertise, your responsibilities will include various aspects of: 

 

  • Develop and implement WHS management and reporting processes in accordance with the Commonwealth Legislation and Defence Instructions. 
  • Manage WHS templates and support documentation on One Estate system.
  • Develop and deliver WHS training as required.
  • Ensure high quality consistent WHS reports, and Sentinel entries are produced.
  • Establish and maintain the required information and data capture procedures at program level to support WHS reporting.
  • Support the GSLs in delivering WHS outcomes that are compliant and consistent on all EWP projects.
  • Support the PMO Lead in continuous improvement and innovation for PDS systems, processes and procedures.

 

About You 

 

As a key member of the team, you will have focused on improving safety outcomes for the contract. You will have -

  • Degree or Safety certificate and auditor qualification 
  • Strong understanding of WHS State and Commonwealth legislation and Defence requirements. Experience in safety, reporting and compliance, providing quality subject matter expert (SME) advice and judgement
  • An ability to demonstrate passion for continual learning and promote the use of global network systems to teams.
  • The ability to produce clear and logical written communication and presentations in English. Excellent skills with Microsoft suite are required, particularly excel for data analysis.
