About the business unit
The Energy Unit (EEN) delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.


Overview of the role
In recent years, Mott MacDonald’s Nuclear division (NDC- Nuclear: Defence and Civil), part of the Energy unit, has been assembling a robust team of engineers at their Sofia office. Their focus is on delivering highly specialized multidisciplinary design services for the energy, high-hazard, and life science industries. The Sofia team aims to be a trusted partner across regions and units within the Mott MacDonald landscape, fostering long-lasting client relationships through innovation and professional expertise. Given our increasing workload and exciting prospects, we are actively seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

 

As a Mechanical Engineer at Mott MacDonald, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, designing mechanical/piping systems that power the world’s most critical projects. Reporting to the lead engineer, your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, ensuring seamless project execution and sustainable solutions.

 

Key responsibilities and duties include: 

  • Mechanical and Piping Design: Dive into the heart of infrastructure by designing mechanical and piping systems. From mechanical equipment arrangement to pipe routing, you’ll shape the backbone of our projects
  • Precision Documentation: Create meticulous design documents using Aveva e3D and AutoCAD. Your attention to detail will ensure flawless execution
  • Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with other disciplines, fostering a holistic approach to project delivery
  • Code Compliance: Conduct thorough research to ensure compliance with industry standards and good practices. Your expertise will keep us on the cutting edge
  • Comprehensive Reporting: Prepare detailed mechanical/piping drawings/ reports, providing clarity and transparency
  • Project Development: Assist in developing drawings and model-based quantity take-offs, contributing to project success
  • Timely Delivery: Reporting progress to the lead engineer, you’ll ensure deadlines are met within allocated man-hours


Candidate specification
Essential: 

  • Master’s (Bachelor’s) degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in Aveva e3D modelling, AutoCAD and MS Office suites
  • Experience in generation of Mechanical/ Piping General Arrangement Drawings, Isometrics, Bill of Materials is highly valued
  • Working proficiency in English is required
  • Experience in Design as a Registered Engineer
  • Ability to collaborate across borders

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in industry sector is advantageous
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines
  • International experience
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
