Mott MacDonald is looking for professionals to join our ever-expanding Transportation team here in the New York City Metro Area. We are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager with experience in the New York City Metro Area for the rail transportation (NYCT, MNR, LIRR, PATH, Amtrak, NJ Transit) and infrastructure industry. The successful candidate is required to have a strong understanding of the construction industry in the New York City Metro Area and experience working on public agency projects.

 

The successful candidate will supervise a team primarily composed of a resident engineer, office engineer and inspection staff for rail infrastructure and transit related projects in the New York City Metro Area. The candidate will apply a comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines to be used during construction, as well as the methods and techniques to be utilized.  Candidate must become thoroughly familiar with required contractual obligations and technical aspects of the project. In addition to construction supervision, the Candidate is also responsible for field administration, procurement, and field engineering. 

 

  • Provides and presents constructability reviews to client. Directs and reviews the overall planning of construction activities to identify critical milestones and priorities, including planning for work under outages and under railroad flagger protection
  • Determines and reviews budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.  Manages and reviews the assignment of workforce, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency, maintain schedules, and to meet budget goals
  • Possesses an understanding of project risks and takes preventative action to ensure that critical milestones are met for each phase of the project
  • Prepares and/or reviews cost and risk analyses and extra work claims for the client
  • Will be the primary client liaison and required to maintain a strong client relationship
  • Keeping the Construction Contractor compliant with the standard safety and quality assurance requirements of the client. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate


Candidate Specification:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or other appropriate degree required
  • Previous Construction Management and/or Resident Engineering experience working with public transportation agencies
  • Should have experience with rail infrastructure project
  • Minimum of 12+ years’ relevant experience in the infrastructure and/or transit industry managing rail or transit projects
  • If required, willing to work weekends and extended hours as necessary to properly oversee the project
  • Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain in New York State
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Pre-employment and ongoing, random drug testing is required

The expected salary for this position is $148,000 - $181,000. 

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
