Create lasting impact with purpose.
At Mott MacDonald, we’re more than a global consultancy—we’re a community of passionate professionals committed to delivering sustainable, people-focused solutions. Our work is grounded in integrity, collaboration, and care for the communities we serve.

We’re proud of our legacy in Aotearoa New Zealand, where our locally based teams have contributed to some of the country’s most strategic and meaningful infrastructure projects. Now, we’re looking for a Senior Hydraulic Modeller to join our growing Water team in Auckland or Hamilton.

Why this role matters

Water is life—and how we manage it shapes the wellbeing of our people, our environment, and our future. As a Senior Hydraulic Modeller, you’ll play a key role in delivering innovative, data-driven solutions that support resilient, sustainable water systems across New Zealand.

You’ll work alongside a tight-knit, supportive team of engineers, planners, and digital specialists, contributing to projects that span the country and beyond. Your work will directly influence how communities grow, adapt, and thrive.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and contribute to hydraulic modelling and network planning projects across water and wastewater systems
  • Develop and refine models to support strategic master planning and infrastructure development
  • Apply your expertise in software platforms such as InfoWorks ICM, DHI MIKE+, ArcGIS, and QGIS
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Auckland, Wellington, and nationally
  • Communicate insights and solutions clearly to clients and stakeholders
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of learning and excellence

What you’ll bring

  • A degree in Geography, Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in water network planning and hydraulic modelling
  • Strong analytical thinking and a problem-solving mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • A passion for delivering high-quality, impactful work that benefits communities

Why Mott MacDonald?

We offer:

  • A competitive salary and enhanced KiwiSaver contributions
  • Flexible working arrangements that support wellbeing and balance
  • Ongoing professional development and global career pathways
  • A culture that celebrates achievements and promotes teamwork
  • Opportunities to work on projects that make a real difference

Join us in shaping a better future

If you’re ready to use your skills to create positive change, we’d love to hear from you. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply—what matters most is your passion, values, and potential.
