About the role

At Mott MacDonald Middle East, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Energy Sector team that drives impactful projects and fosters growth. We are looking for a Technical Principal Mechanical to join our team in Riyadh, KSA, and support our business growth, technical capability, and project delivery, especially in thermal plants and mechanical capabilities.

 

In this role, you will lead technical and project delivery for Energy sector projects, collaborating with a global team to drive innovation and excellence. Your role will be pivotal in advancing our technical capabilities and supporting the energy transition.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Facilitate seamless project delivery across technical Energy teams in KSA and the Middle East.
  • Technical Excellence: Lead the technical delivery of thermal and mechanical Energy projects, focusing on KSA.
  • Strategic Ventures: Drive specific ventures from Energy transition investments, acting as Project Principal on key projects.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Middle East and KSA Energy sector team to meet operational and performance targets.
  • Client Engagement: Develop strategies for client and cross-sector engagement, delivering thermal and Energy transition projects.
  • Business Development: Open new business opportunities in KSA, supporting and leading technical and commercial proposals.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and support the development of graduates and non-energy staff, enhancing their knowledge and skills.

 

Candidate specifications:

We seek a proactive individual with a passion for thermal energy and experience as a Technical Advisor and Owners Engineer, particularly in IPP development. Knowledge of Energy transition technologies such as Hydrogen, CCUS, and power to gas is essential. Understanding the thermal and Energy transition value chain, including clients, suppliers, technologies, and regional trends, is crucial.

  • Degree qualified. Post-graduate qualifications and Chartership would be an advantage.
  • Engineering – Mechanical - or project management background in Energy and Energy transition and experience with Consultancy including Technical Advisor and Owners Engineer projects would be an advantage.
  • Specialist in the delivery of thermal and Energy transition projects and actively contributing to the related community through involvement in working groups, links with research bodies and technology providers across the value chain.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of 20 years of experience in the Energy sector.
  • Specific thermal IPP Plant development and delivery experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • The candidate must be able to speak English, be a good communicator, be self-motivated and able to plan his/her work to achieve the deliverables required.
