Main Purpose of the Job: 

Mott MacDonald is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support programme delivery in KSA based out of Riyadh. 

 Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below: 

  • Undertake cost vs budget analyses for project work and assist in monthly IPA’s 

  • Help prepare accurate forecasts for T & M delivery 

  • Perform risk and value management as well as cost control 

  • Assist, identify, analyze and develop responses to commercial risks 

  • Provide advice on contractual claims including Extension of Times  

  • Measure progress of work and coordinate payment applications 

  • Measure variations, quantities and costs 

  • Negotiate and agree variations for both quantities and costs 

  • Review all drawing issues for quantities and cost implications (where necessary) 

  • Attend regular site meetings with internal and externals to discuss variations and monthly valuation 

  • Conduct regular follow up with cost and value consultants and contractors on cost and commercial aspects 

  • Prepare QS reports including estimate reports, cost reports and variance reports. 

  • Coordinate with Commercial Manager to analyse cost reports and ensure compliance to defined cost standards for the project 

  • Attend meetings with client for all cost and commercial aspects during project 

  • Advise clients on cost variance issues and suggest and get approvals on remedial actions. 

  • Interface with client to respond to queries on estimating procedures, latest costs etc. 

  • Advise client on anticipated final completion budget and any corrective action to be taken 

  • Draft contractual correspondence to Clients and sub-consultants

    Candidate Specification:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a Quantity Surveying from an internationally accredited university; working towards achieving membership/membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors 

    • Familiar with different forms of contract, e.g. NEC/FIDIC/Bespoke contracts used in the GCC 

    • Proven experience in preparing construction project monthly valuations/applications for payment 

    • Strong commercial awareness and construction financials 

    • Experience in assessing and evaluating claims 

    • Must be able to demonstrate necessary skills to implement methods for dispute avoidance and resolution 

    • Monitoring, adjusting and updating the cost plan and cash flows accordingly and the consolidating these results in monthly reports 

    • Estimating time element of change orders.
