Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Signalling Engineer to join our team in Noida / Bangalore and take a lead role in the production and verification of signalling design and engineering deliverables across feasibility, option selection, scheme development and detailed design. Aligned to the Project Acceleration in a Controlled Environment (PACE) delivery framework with a particular emphasis on Engineering Stages 1 – 5 encompassing Strategic development & project selection and Project Development and Design.
The candidate needs to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of UK Signalling Principles, supported by relevant work experience and certification through the IRSE Licensing Scheme. The candidate needs to operate at Senior level and will play a key role in delivering technical assurance, coordinating multidisciplinary inputs, and ensuring consistent application of established design processes.
Job Location: Noida / Bangalore
Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to Signal Engineering Input into Multidisciplinary Rail Projects in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland in line with industry standards and internal processes.
- Demonstrate multi-disciplinary collaborative working practice to ensure integrated and coordinated engineering solutions.
- Ensure design deliverables conform to relevant railway standards, health & safety legislation, CDM/CSM requirements, and Mott MacDonald’s internal design governance frameworks. Follow defined quality processes, contributing to assurance reviews and maintaining audit‑ready documentation.
- Participate in structured checking workflows and demonstrate professional accountability aligned with IRSE competency expectations.
- Engage with digital tools, automation initiatives, BIM workflows and improved design processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Champion digital engineering and promote efficient, sustainable, and resilient design approaches.
- Complete assigned tasks in accordance with quality, timescales, and budgeted hours.
- Work with the Senior discipline staff and Resource Managers to proactively manage workloads and effective forecasting and ensure maximum utilisation of team members, allocate appropriate staff to projects or bids as agreed.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications:
- An electrical engineering degree or alternatively, a suitable rail industry recognised qualification (HNC/HND).
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Institution of Railway Signal Engineers 1.1.550 Signalling Principles Designer License
- Institution of Railway Signal Engineers 1.1.160 Signalling Design Verifier License
- Extensive knowledge of signalling principles, including interlocking fundamentals and application to design, operating at verifier level.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with a collaborative mindset suited to multidisciplinary delivery.
- A proactive, organised approach, able to follow processes, deliver consistently, and seek guidance where necessary.
- Experience working across major rail enhancement or renewals projects, with awareness of stakeholder interfaces.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary professionals, as well as clients, and third parties, as required.
- Positive and proactive approach towards knowledge sharing, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (written and verbal).
- Problem-solving attitude with a high level of responsibility for assigned tasks and projects.
Desirable Competencies / Skills:
- International experience and knowledge of Transport Markets across Mainland Europe, North America, Australasia & the Middle East.
- Experience of Metro, Light-Rail and Tram Train transport modes.
- Exposure to ETCS, or digital signalling concepts, including participation in feasibility, option selection, or design development activities on ETCS‑related projects.
- Understanding of design assurance frameworks, compliance processes, or engineering governance, paired with experience supporting CREs through preparation of inputs, documentation packages, or interface coordination
- Demonstrated ability to navigate evolving project requirements, manage competing priorities and respond constructively to design changes in fast‑paced project environments.
- Exposure to technical meetings, client discussions, or cross‑discipline workshops that supports confidence in presenting technical inputs, receiving feedback, and coordinating design intent with project partners
