Mott MacDonald is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our Rail team, focusing on the design and delivery of track infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in developing innovative and sustainable track design solutions for light rail, heavy rail, and freight systems across North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the design of rail track alignments, including horizontal, vertical geometry.Prepare engineering design plans, calculations, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integration and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct gauging assessments and buffer stop risk evaluations using specialized software.
  • Participate in site visits to assess field conditions and support construction activities.
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the team.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and sub-consultants to ensure project success.
  • Support BIM implementation and data environment setup for design collaboration.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in rail track design and civil infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Civil 3D, Bentley Rail Track, or OpenRail.
  • Familiarity with relevant Canadian, U.S. and international rail standards and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng) license in Ontario preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.

 

 

The expected salary range for this position is from $92,000 - $113,000
